Black Tie Decanter
4100/23
Classic, sculptural, and unmistakably elegant, the RIEDEL Black Tie Decanter transforms the ritual of decanting into a visual statement. Its flowing, curved silhouette is free-blown by RIEDEL’s master glassmakers without the use of a mould, ensuring that every decanter is truly one of a kind.
The signature black tuxedo stripe is created by introducing a rod of black crystal into the molten glass before shaping, forming a bold vertical accent that runs gracefully from top to bottom. Wine is poured in and out through the larger opening, while the smaller opening serves as a refined design feature, enhancing the decanter’s sculptural balance.
Designed to hold a single standard bottle of wine (0.75L), this handmade crystal decanter is suitable for both young and mature wines, whether to encourage aeration or to separate sediment. As with all handcrafted crystal, subtle variations in size, weight, and surface detail including tiny bubbles or gentle irregularities are part of its unique character.
To preserve the clarity and integrity of the design, handwashing only is recommended. Due to the decanter’s internal form, bottle cleaners should not be used, as they may become lodged.

FAQs
Why should I decant my wine?
Decanting enhances wine by removing sediment and allowing oxygen exposure, which softens tannins and amplifies aromas. This is especially beneficial for young, bold wines.
How do I clean my RIEDEL decanter?
Hand-wash rinse decanter with warm water and liquid soap.
What is double decanting, and why is it useful?
Double decanting involves aerating wine twice—once when pouring into the decanter and again when serving. This method is ideal for young wines that need rapid oxygen exposure. Additionally, it reduces the time wine needs to decant properly.
What is shock decanting and why is it useful?
Shock decanting is a fast and vigorous method of aerating wine by pouring it forcefully into a decanter or between containers to expose it to oxygen. It rapidly "opens up" tight, young wines—softening tannins, enhancing aromas, and revealing deeper flavors—without the wait of traditional decanting.
Do RIEDEL decanters fit in a fridge or ice bucket?
Yes, our machine-made decanters are designed to fit most fridges and ice buckets, making them perfect for serving chilled wines.
